Call for 2 prizes for doctoral theses in the forestry sector announced by the National Union for Forestry Scientific Innovation – U.N.I.F. ass. non-profit with reference to the notice of 09.29.2023 for n. 2 prizes for doctoral theses in the forestry sector, announced by the National Union for Forest Scientific Innovation (U.N.I.F. - non-profit association) in collaboration with the Italian Academy of Forest Sciences, the judging commission of the competition, after having evaluated the theses received on the basis of the criteria listed in the art. 4 of the announcement, awards the prize to Dr. Cristina Gasperini (XXXV cycle)

Ph.D. Leonardo Bruni, graduated during the XXXII cycle of the PhD course in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of the University of Florence, concluded the three-year course by discussing a thesis entitled "Innovative protein sources in feed for salmonids: Effects on lipid metabolism, gut microbiota and fillet quality ". The work was awarded by the National Association of Zootechnical Food Producers (Assalzoo) for making an effective contribution to animal nutrition and / or feed.

The award was reserved for researchers who presented their PhD thesis on topics related to animal nutrition, nutrition, feed technology, supply and markets of raw materials, feed market, livestock farming, environmental sustainability, legal issues related to food safety and other related issues. The prize, assigned by the Commission composed of the Coordinator of the Scientific Committee for Innovation of Assalzoo, as President, and by the CSI experts, will be awarded on the occasion of an event organized by Assalzoo and the winner may be asked to prepare a contribution on his research to be published in the magazine “Mangimi e Alimenti”.

The development of the doctoral work was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Giuliana Parisi and was possible thanks to the collaboration and joint effort of both the partners of the SUSHIN group (funded by AGER2), who hosted the researcher during various stays for share samples from the SUSHIN project and support his research, both from the researcher's stay at the “Fish Nutrition” group coordinated by Prof. Åshild Krogdahl of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (Oslo, Norway).

Dr Leonardo Bruni, PhD of the SAA PhD Course won the Scholarship "The Young Talent with Experience Abroad (JTEE)" that aimed to attract talented young researchers, Brazilian or foreigners, residing abroad, with verified relevant international academic scientific experience, to carry out research and teaching activities at UFRPE - Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (Brazil). The scholarship (12 months) is funded by CAPES (CAPES/PrInt/UFRPE Program).

Conseguito il “Premio Austriaco di Eccellenza 2018” della tesi di dottorato "Carbon pools and microbiota along an alpine soil climosequence": tesi di dottorato fra le migliori 40 a livello austriaco dell'anno accademico 2017/2018, ricevuto dal Ministero Federale per l'Istruzione, Scienza e Ricerca, il 5 Dicembre 2018, Vienna (Austria).

Finanziamento per giovani ricercatori da “Soil Science Society of America, Weyerhaeuser and Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources” per partecipare alla conferenza internazionale “North American Forest Soils Conference - International Symposium of Forest Soils” che si è tenuta in Quebec City, Quebec (Canada) dal 10 al 16 Giugno 2018.

Finanziamento per giovani ricercatori da “Novozymes North America Inc. e Glycosynth” per partecipare alla conferenza internazionale “Enzymes in the Environment: Activity, Ecology and Applications” che si è tenuta a Bangor, Wales (UK) dal 24 al 27 Luglio 2016.

Finanziamento per giovani ricercatori da “TerraGenome Young Scientist Grant” per partecipare alla conferenza internazionale “Ecology of Soil Microorganisms” che si è tenuta a Praga, (Repubblica Ceca) dal 29 novembre al 3 dicembre 2015.

Febbraio 2015: borsa di studio COST Action FA1303 per la partecipazione a una Training School presso l'UMR SAVE, INRA Bordeaux (Francia) dal titolo "Biological methods to study the microbial communities colonizing the wood of vines".

Ottobre-novembre 2016: borsa di studio COST Action FA1303 per lo svolgimento di una Short Term Scientific Mission presso l'Austrian Institute of Technology (Austria), dal titolo "Imaging methods to evaluate the control of GTDs pathogens".

Settembre 2018: premio "Giovanni Scaramuzzi" conferito dalla Società Italiana di Patologia Vegetale, per la miglior tesi di dottorato in patologia vegetale.

Febbraio 2019-aprile 2020: borsa di studio dell'Organizzazione Internazionale della Vite e del Vino (OIV) per lo svolgimento di uno studio dal titolo "Monitoring and preventing GTDs in the nursery: comparative assays to control the related pathogens in propagation material" (tutorship Università degli Studi di Firenze, DAGRI).

Aprile 2019: premio "Antico Fattore" conferito dall'Accademia dei Georgofili, per la pubblicazione scientifica dal titolo "Innovative delivery of Cu(II) ions by a nano-structured hydroxyapatite: potential application in planta to enhance the sustainable control of Plasmopara viticola" APS pubblication
