Profile

CV: Science and technology of forestry systems, wood production

I am Lapo Azzini, born in Florence on 01/25/1992. I graduated from the University of Florence, first in the bachelor's degree in Forestry and Environmental Sciences, in 2015, and then in the master's degree in Sciences and technologies of forestry systems, with a focus on wood production, in 2019. Over the next five years I worked at the DAGRI department (Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences and Technologies) of the University of Florence, dealing mainly with environmental analysis and LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) analysis.

In particular, I worked on the development of LCA analysis in the ornamental nursery sector thanks to the use of dedicated software (GaBi); both internal and external collaborations have also made it possible to expand these analysis to other realities, such as urban parks or agricultural crops.

My PhD project focuses on using artificial intelligence techniques to develop optimized organic soil improvers, with a focus on environmental analysis. Chemical-physical properties, carbon sequestration efficiency and life cycle will be studied to identify and mitigate environmental critical issues. The objective is to improve soil management, reduce the ecological footprint and promote the mitigation of climate change, promoting sustainable agricultural practices with low environmental impact.
