Summary
Drought is the most leading hazard for crop production and yield as water is necessary for good plant growth and development. Glycinebetaine (GB) is considered as a very vital osmolyte due to its protective role. Morpho-physiolocical parameters were recorded. Drought significantly decreased shoot length (SL), seed dry weight (SDW), total chlorophyll (Total Chl), Na+ concentration in shoot, K+ concentration in shoot, seed yield per plant, Chlorophyll contents and umbels per plant. Drought significantly increased in ROS concentration. Glycinebetaine significantly increase in SL, SFW, SDW,Chl. a, Total Chl. and SOD activity. The recorded data was subjected to analysis of variance(ANOVA).
